Macalester vs. Springfield box score

Bobby De Meulenaere (So., Elk Grove Village, Ill. / Elk Grove) drove in Dan Esrig (Jr., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township), who singled earlier in the 11th frame, to give Macalester an 11-10 extra inning triumph over Springfield (Ill.). The marathon slugfest had 21 runs, 29 hits, seven errors and 17 runners left on base.

Each team had five-run outbursts early in the game, Springfield in the first inning and Macalester in the third. The Scots led 10-8 going into the ninth inning only to see Springfield send the contest into extra frames.

Macalester relievers surrendered just four runs and eight hits in 9 1/3 innings of work and Mitch Glasser (Fy., Chicago, Ill. / Latin School) worked the final two innings to pick up the win.

Catcher Robert Williams (Fy., West Covina, Calif. / Northview) went 4-for-6 with two RBI to lead the Macalester attack, while shortstop Nate Wilson-Traisman (Jr., Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Adding two hits each were Devin English (Jr., Annapolis, Md. / DeMatha) and Glasser.
