ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior outfielder Raymond McCaskey (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) and first year outfielder John McMurray (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends) were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region IX second team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced today. Additionally, McMurray was included on the D3baseball.com Region IX third team. The two outfielders are each making their first appearances on the All-Region team after leading the Scots to the MIAC Playoff championship and a berth in the NCAA Championship.

After receiving All-MIAC honorable mention last year, McCaskey made the All-MIAC team this year after an outstanding season at the plate and in the field. He batted .387 with 63 hits, a school-record 60 runs, 12 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 35 runs batted in and 21 stolen bases, while posting seven outfield assists. The team's starting right fielder, McCaskey started all 47 games this year to break the program's record for games played in a season. In the Scots' 17-10 comeback win over St. Olaf on Mar. 28, McCaskey hit a grand slam in a 14-run sixth inning and was eventually named MIAC Player of the Week on Mar. 30. He also went 6-for-13 (.462) with four runs and four stolen bases in four games in the MIAC Playoffs to make the All-Playoff Team while stealing five bases and scoring six runs in three NCAA Tournament games. In 134 games and 103 starts, McCaskey registered 116 hits, 24 doubles, eight triples, seven homers, 63 RBIs, 44 stolen bases and a batting average of .336.

McMurray made an immediate impact in his first year at Macalester, earning All-MIAC recognition. He led the Scots in batting average (.391), hits (68) and RBIs (52), while setting single-season school records for hits, RBIs and at-bats (174). The Scots' centerfielder, McMurray also registered 12 doubles, four home runs and 15 stolen bases while committing one error in 116 chances. In four games in the MIAC Playoffs, McMurray batted .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, a triple, five runs and four RBIs. He also hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs in a 14-5 victory over Luther, the program's first NCAA Tournament win. Earlier this season, he was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Mar. 2 and April 20.

Macalester, coached by Matt Parrington, finished 30-17 to become the first team in the program's history with 30 wins. The Scots won their second MIAC Playoff title and qualified for their second appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship.
