ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College outfielder John McMurray (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends) was selected to the Division III Freshman All-American Team by The Baseball Collegian, the publication announced.

Last season McMurray was named All-MIAC and made the ABCA All-Region second team and the D3baseball.com All-Region third team after batting a team-best .391 and leading the Scots in hits (68) and RBIs (52), while setting single-season school records for hits, RBIs and at-bats (174). The Scots' centerfielder, McMurray also registered 12 doubles, four home runs and 15 stolen bases while committing one error in 116 chances. In four games in the MIAC Playoffs, McMurray batted .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, a triple, five runs and four RBIs. He also hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs in a 14-5 victory over Luther, the program's first NCAA Tournament win. Earlier in the season, he was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Mar. 2 and April 20.

Macalester, coached by Matt Parrington, finished 30-17 to become the first team in the program's history with 30 wins. The Scots won their second MIAC Playoff title and qualified for their second appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship.
