ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomore Liam Sarmiento (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) of the men's golf team was named to the At-Large Division III Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced today.

The CSC Academic All-America and All-District program honors student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and have competed in 90 percent of the team's total varsity events that were team scoring events or competed in the conference championships to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.

Sarmiento tied for 19th at the MIAC Championships last September, helping the Scots finish fifth in the team standings. Over 16 rounds this season, he posted a stroke average of 78.6. Sarmiento is majoring in biology at Macalester.
