Women’s Track & Field: Three Scots Set Records at Last Chance Meets

| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team sent three athletes to last chance meets this weekend, and all three broke school records in their events. The performances have helped their chances to qualify for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships, which will take place Mar. 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.

On Friday, junior Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) competed in the pentathlon at the Wartburg Final Qualifier in Waverly, Iowa and scored a program-best 3,429 points. The score breaks the previous school record of 3,192 set by Sarah Beth Hobby '24 in 2024. Myatt set personal bests in four of the five events, running the 60-meter hurdles in 9.57 and the 800 meters in 2:31.28, clearing 1.59 meters (5-2.5) in the high jump and leaping 5.01 meters (16-5.25) in the long jump. Her mark in the high jump ranks fifth all-time at Macalester. On Saturday, Myatt took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 13.02 meters (42-8.75).

On the track at Wartburg on Saturday, sophomore Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) took seventh in the mile in a strong field and broke the school record with a time of 4:59.60. The old record was held by All-American Kimber Meyer '17, who ran a time of 4:59.83 in 2014.

At the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Saturday, sophomore All-American Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) took fourth in the 200 meters with a school-record time of 25.05, topping her previous record of 25.15 set earlier this season. Rogahn-Press currently has the second-fastest time in Division III in the 400 meters this season, all but ensuring her a berth in the national meet in that event.

Prior to the weekend's competition, Myatt was ranked 40th in the pentathlon, Rogahn-Press was 22nd in the 200 and Fox was not in the top 50 in the mile. Their marks from this weekend will significantly improve their rankings. The NCAA will announce the national qualifiers on Monday, March 9.
