MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team turned in several strong performances at the Gopher Classic, hosted by the University of Minnesota Saturday afternoon. No team scores were kept.

On the track, sophomore Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) finished fourth in the mile with a time of 5:13.81. Junior Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) was ninth in 5:26.84, a personal best. First year Eva Abreu (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) took sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.30, which ranks seventh on Macalester's all-time performance list.

In the field events, sophomore Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) equaled her personal best in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 (16-6), which ranks eighth all-time at Macalester.

The Scots head to Carleton College next weekend, Feb. 14 for the Meet of Hearts in Northfield, Minn.
