Men’s Track & Field: Hodin Becomes MIAC Champion on Final Day of MIAC Championships

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior Riley Hodin (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) became a MIAC Champion today on the final day of the MIAC Indoor Championships, in the triple jump. The Macalester men's track and field team finished eighth overall in the championships with 47 points.
 
Hodin set a personal record mark of 13.72m (45' 0.25") to earn the MIAC Champion title. Hodin was the top-seed heading into the day, with a previous season best mark of 13.38m (43' 10.75"). His 13.72m mark is the fourth best all-time mark at Macalester.
 
The 4x400m relay team of sophomores Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) and Thomas Malecha (Faribault, Minn.), and juniors Kalid Ali (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) and Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) took fifth with a time of 3:27.10. This is the fourth best time in Macalester history. Heitler competed in the 200m dash and ran a 22.57 to finish fifth. Senior Drew Getty (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) took eighth in the 1000m with a time of 2:33.00. Junior Ben Crotteau (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast) took eighth in the 3000m with a time of 8:37.61.
 
Bethel took the conference title with 164 points.
 
Macalester's next meet will be the Wartburg Final Qualifier on March 1-2 in Waverly, Iowa.
