MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team opened the new season at the University of Minnesota's M City Indoor Classic on Friday. First year
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) broke a school record in her first collegiate race.
In her first competition as a Scot, Rogahn-Press won the 400 meters with a time of 57.34, breaking the school record of 57.57 set by
Hannah Sonsalla '18 in 2018. Rogahn-Press' time would have won the MIAC last year. Also on the track, first year
Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) placed sixth in the 300 meters in 43.93.
Sophomore
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) finished 11th in the pentathlon behind 10 Division I and II athletes, posting a score of 2749, which ranks third all-time at Macalester. Myatt had the best mark amongst the field in the shot put with a toss of 40-6 (12.34m) and registered a personal best in the long jump, leaping 16-4.5 (4.99m).
Sophomore
Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) recorded a personal best in the weight throw to take seventh behind six Division I athletes with a mark of 44-6 (13.56m), which ranks second all-time at Macalester. Also in the weight throw, first year
Ava Russell (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was eighth with a throw of 40-4 (12.29m), which ranks seventh on Macalester's all-time list.
In the pole vault, sophomore
Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) cleared a personal-best 10-2.5 (3.11m) to place eighth. The mark is tied for second all-time at Macalester.
Macalester resumes competition in January by hosting the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Jan. 25 in the Leonard Center Fieldhouse.
