NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team competed in the St. Olaf Quad today. Yesterday, junior 
Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) won the Pentathlon.
 
Hobby won the event with a personal record 2638 points. This is the fifth best finish in Macalester history. She won three of the five events of the pentathlon. She placed first in the high jump with a personal record of 1.46m (4' 9.5"). She also set a personal record of 10.81m (35' 5.6") in the shot put to win the event. This is the tenth best mark in Macalester history. Hobby also won the 800m run. Hobby took second in both the long jump and the 60m hurdles.
 
Today, the Scots had strong performances on the track.  Junior
 Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster) won the mile today with a time of 5:14.69. Blaesing was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that finished third this afternoon, alongside senior 
Madeline Rodriguez (Petaluma, Calif./Marin Academy), sophomore 
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), and first year 
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School). Preston also competed in the 400m dash and took third with a time of 1:02.11. Senior 
Erin Franke (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) took second in the 3000m run.
 
In the field, senior 
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) placed second in the long jump. Her mark of 5.20m (5' 0.7") is the fifth best mark all-time in Macalester history. Fellow senior 
Sara Gregor (Bloomington, Minn./The Blake School) came in sixth in the event.
 
Macalester will send athletes to two meets next weekend. The Scots will compete at the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota, and at the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday Feb 4.
