ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team hosted the annual Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Saturday in the Leonard Center. The Scots placed sixth of nine teams.
 
Senior 
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) opened 2023 with a bang, placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.63m (38' 2"). Her mark ranks second all-time in Macalester history. Not only that, but her mark currently ranks eighth in the country across Division III. Amundson also finished third in the 200m dash, with a time of 27.15.
 
On the track, sophomore 
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) finished fifth in the 600m run. Her time was 1:43.64. Preston also competed in the 4x400m relay, alongside junior sophomore 
Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster), senior 
Madeline Rodriguez (Petaluma, Calif./Marin Academy), and first year 
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School). The team finished fourth in the relay, with a time of 4:23.38.
 
Other highlights from the meet include junior 
Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) finishing fourth in the high jump, first year 
Roen Boyd (Minneapolis, Minn./South) placing fifth in the pole vault, and Blaesing finishing in the top 10 for the mile.
 
The Scots return to action next Saturday, Jan. 28, at the St. Olaf Quad in Northfield, Minn.
