Collegeville, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team traveled to Collegeville on Saturday to compete in the Saint John's/Saint Benedict Alumni Meet. The Scots placed third at the meet.
Senior
Hannah Grosse (Minneapolis, Minn./Coon Rapids) put on an impressive performance in pole vault, clearing 3.46 meters (11' 4.25"). Her performance set a new Macalester record, beating her old record of 3.40 meters (11' 1.75"), which she set in 2020. Also in the field, junior
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) won the triple jump and sophomore
Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) placed third in long jump.
On the track, another Scot set a new meet record. Sophomore
Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster) took first in the mile run, with a time of 5:16.19. The previous meet record was 5:16.95 set by Lauren Rice in 2016. Coming in third for the mile was sophomore
Sylvia Greene (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) with a time of 5:38.29, while fellow sophomore
Maggie Froh (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King International School) placed fifth.
In the 4x400 meter relay, junior
Sara Gregor (Bloomington, Minn./The Blake School), first year
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), and sophomores Blaesing and Hobby took second. Junior
Erin Franke (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) placed third in the 3000-meter run while senior
Danielle Freshwaters (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium) took fourth.
The Scots return to action Friday, Feb. 4, when they host the Macalester Invitational. The meet starts at 5:00 p.m.
