ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team closed out the 2021 spring season with a 2-2 draw with Hamline in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The Scots went 1-1-1 in three games this spring.
In the 20th minute, sophomore
Lucy Grochulska (Henrico, Va./Henrico) found the net to give Macalester a 1-0 lead. Hamline responded with a pair of goals just one minute apart to put the Pipers on top, 2-1. In the 55th minute, the Scots tied the score at 2-2 on a goal by senior
Kate Bond (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy). The two teams played a total of 65 minutes, with the game ending in a tie.
The tie marked the final game for seniors Bond,
Yukeria Haywood (Stone Mountain, Ga./Marist School),
Georgia Kazemi (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate),
Aliya Mahmoud (Portland, Ore./Catlin Gable), and
Claire Stafford (Boerne, Texas/Samuel V. Champion). Seniors
Emelie Beattie (Seattle, Wash./The Northwest School),
Allison Dwinnell (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek),
Kate Lawhead (Battle Ground, Wash./Prairie),
Anya Lindell Paulson (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park), and
Kayla Togneri (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) did not play in the game on Sunday but have concluded their careers as Scots.
