Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose Macalester because I was very interested in going to a diverse liberal arts school where I would be given the opportunity to play competitive soccer in addition to achieving and pursuing my academic goals. I believe I am a determined and well-rounded student athlete and I believe this school will challenge me to learn and grow as a student, athlete, and overall person. The wide range of classes available inspired me to apply to this school and I am looking forward to this amazing college experience.
What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
Macalester College has introduced me to the most amazing and supportive community, where I have been able to build deep and meaningful relationships. Additionally, the classes I have been able to take in this last year has allowed me to further discover my passions and interests. I am excited to see what the future has to offer as I continue to learn and grow as a student athlete.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Through the classes I have taken and the people I have met, I have been shaped into the person I am today. I have grown so much the last two years as a student-athlete, and have been able to explore and develop my passions. Being on the women's soccer team has opened my mind to hard work, patience, perseverance, passion, and teamwork, as I am surrounded by amazing women every day, who have become some of my closet friends. Being a student-athlete challenges me in the classroom and field, and without this experience my future path would be very different, and I would not have found my passions for public health and making a difference in the world. The skills I have learned and built as a student-athlete are irreplaceable, and I look forward to what my future in academics and athletics holds.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Being a Macalester Student-Athlete has been incredibly challenging and rewarding. I have developed resilience, perseverance, determination, high work ethic, organization, communication, and passion from playing with the Varsity Women's soccer team. The relationships I have built will also last after graduation, and I look forward to being a part of this community forever.
