Lydia Simpson
Hometown: Seattle, Wash.
Majors: Psychology, Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies
Plans after graduation: "I will be working in Seattle for Upower, a non-profit which provides fitness for underserved teens in the Seattle area."
Highlights as a Scot: Earned All-MIAC honorable mention by helping the Scots finish fourth in the distance medley relay at the conference indoor championships this winter… Ran her personal-best time in the 3000 meters at the 2020 MIAC indoor meet… Also competed in cross country and was one of the Scots' top runners this season.
Coach Schofer: "Lydia was fantastic as a team captain for women's cross country, and she led us on and off the course and track. She's a tough competitor who loves her team and her teammates and has been so helpful in keeping our team chemistry and traditions this year."
Favorite memory as a Scot: "I have been so lucky to have been a part of such a wonderful, supportive and strong community. There is no feeling in the world like starting a race with a team of other strong women; you feel invincible. And at the end of the race, being there for others regardless of how the race went, and having them be there for you, is truly something I will never forget. I am so grateful for all of the love and support I have had here on the Mac XC team."
