Coach Greene: "
Alex Young-Williams, or Y-Dubs as he's affectionately known to the golf team, will be sincerely missed after he graduates this spring. I've only coached Alex since August, but in that time, I've seen his hunger for lowering his scores and a commitment to helping our program in any way possible. Alex leads by example and is a positive influence on our team's culture. Anytime we had a recruiting visit on campus, Alex would go out of his way to meet the prospect and share his love for Macalester. A seeker of golf knowledge, Alex is always open to coaching and learning. He was clearly committed to his off-season practice--he showed up this spring season with noticeably faster club-head speeds. The team was thrilled for Alex during the fall season when he shot his lowest tournament score ever, a 78 in the Crown College Dual at Bluff Creek Golf Course. I wish Alex all the best and hope he knows how much his bright and giving nature has positively impacted our team. I'd happily welcome Alex and his patented sense of style into my golf foursome any day!"
Favorite memory as a Scot: "Last fall, I shot the lowest round of my college career during a match with Crown College and was co-medalist, meaning I had the joint lowest score of everyone competing. That was undoubtedly the highest point of my college golfing career...another great moment was helping to organize the student-athlete mental health panels the last two years. Seeing the increase in interest from the first year to the second gave me hope that this topic will continue to be raised more often in future years."
