WAVERLY, Iowa – The Macalester College men's golf team played in its first event of the spring at the Wartburg Spring Invite, held Saturday and Sunday at Prairie Links Golf Course. The Scots posted a two-round score of 635 and finished 14th out of 17 teams.

First year Ryan Chang (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) carded Macalester's lowest score of the weekend with rounds of 79 and 76 to tie for 38th at +11 155. Sophomore Liam Sarmiento (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) tied for 52nd with a score of 158, while senior Brady Thomas (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-Saint Mary's) tied for 66th with a 161. Senior Ben d'Entremont (Cranston, R.I./Moses Brown School) rounded out the Scots' top four, tying for 76th. Sophomore Aaron Cheng (Mountain View, Calif./Taipei American School) tied for 81st, while sophomores Rio Pearlstein (Needham, Mass./Milton Academy) and Jerry Miao (Shanghai, China/Montverde Academy) competed as individuals and finished 52nd and 74th, respectively.

Macalester will compete at the Bobby Krig Invitational, hosted by Gustavus at New Prague Golf Club on April 18-19.
