ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's golf team heads to the MIAC Golf Championships this weekend at Edinburgh USA in Brooklyn Park, Minn. The three-round tournament begins Saturday and concludes on Monday.
The Scots are looking to improve on their sixth-place finish a year ago at Braemar Golf Course in Edina. This fall Macalester has been led by first year
Ray Zhang (San Ramon, Calif./Dougherty Valley), who has a stroke average of 74.4 over seven rounds. He finished fourth at the Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invite Sept. 13-14 after posting back-to-back rounds of 73. Last weekend at the Saint John's Fall invite, Zhang closed with a season-low round of 72. Sophomore
Aaron Cheng (Mountain View, Calif./Taipei American School), who tied for 23rd at last year's MIAC Championships to lead the Scots, also has had a solid season with a stroke average of 76.0 over nine rounds.
Senior
Harry Cheng (Taipei, Taiwan/Heping Municipal) has a 77.3 stroke average over seven rounds this year, followed by senior
Ben d'Entremont (Cranston, R.I./Moses Brown School), who has a 78.0 average, and sophomore
Liam Sarmiento (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman), who has a 78.6 stroke average.
