ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College senior
David Palmer (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) will compete in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Mar. 13 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Palmer is in the fifth of five heats of the 400, with the first heat scheduled to start at 2:10 p.m. Central time.
Macalester Athletics is hosting a viewing party on Friday, starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room located in the Leonard Center. Join us for light snacks as we watch Palmer compete on the big screen.
Last Saturday at Wartburg's Last Chance Meet, Palmer broke the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 48.89, which ranks fifth in all of Division III. Earlier this winter, Palmer won the 400 at the MIAC Championships, becoming Macalester's first men's conference champion on the track since 2013.
Palmer has the fifth-best time in the field and is one of five competitors to have run under 49 seconds. Each heat has four competitors, and the eight fastest times in the preliminary heats advance to Saturday's final, which begins at 2:10 p.m. Central.
