ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team hosted the Hamster Invitational Friday night at Clement Track in the Leonard Center. The Scots placed fifth in the team scoring with 76 points.
Macalester's 4x200-meter relay team of first years
Sara Gregor (Bloomington, Minn./The Blake School) and
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern), junior
Jasmine Loving (Normal, Ill./Normal Community West) and senior
Lily Schlieman (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) took first with a time of 1:51.00. Individually, Schlieman was fourth in the 200 with a personal-best time of 26.63, which is seventh all-time at Macalester. Loving finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.14 seconds.
The Scots turned in several strong performances in the middle distance and distance races. Senior
Emma Maxtutis (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) placed fourth in the mile among collegiate runners with a time of 5:28.36, followed closely by fellow senior
Lydia Simpson (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale) in fifth (5:31.09). Sophomore
Brennan Drake (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) took fifth in the 800 meters in 2:30.63, while first year
Madeline Rodriguez (Petaluma, Calif./Marin Academy) finished eighth in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:19.80. Senior
Anjali Mani (Austin, Texas/Ann Richards) and junior
Lily Jensen (Madison, Wis./Madison East) were seventh and eighth, respectively in the 600 meters.
Sophomore
Danielle Freshwaters (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium) placed third among collegiate runners in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:16.84, with senior
Anya Wolterman (Madison, Wis./Monona Grove) taking sixth in 11:23.09.
In the field events, first year
Mikayla Ennever (Wayzata, Minn./Breck School) took second in the triple jump with a leap of 34-10.25 (10.62), which ranks sixth on Macalester's all-time indoor performance list. First year
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) was close behind in third with a jump of 34-5.75 (10.51), eighth all-time at Macalester. Loving also took second in the high jump, clearing 4-9 (1.45).
In the pole vault, sophomore
Hannah Grosse (Minneapolis, Minn./Coon Rapids) registered a personal best for the second meet in a row, clearing 10-0 (3.05). The mark is second on the Scots' indoor list. Senior
Caitlyn Burmester (Columbia, Md./Atholton) continued her solid season with a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 37-3 (11.35).
Macalester competes at the Meet of Hearts, hosted by Carleton, on Saturday, Feb. 15.
