MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- Day Four of the MIAC swimming and diving championships was a success for the Macalester College women's swimming and diving team as five Scots competed in the finals and one of those Scots qualified for regionals.
Senior
Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) swam to a 13
th place finish and earned a spot in the finals after swimming a 2:13.14 in the 200 yard backstroke. Thompson placed 11
th overall in the final 200 backstroke with a speedy time of 2:11.91.
Francesca Gillis (River Forest, Ill./Trinity) earned a spot in the finals in the three meter dive with a score of 4:10.40. Gillis then posted a high score of 401.40 in the final three meter dive and earned a spot in regionals while recieving ALL MIAC Honors for diving.
Sophomore
Betsy Foy (Omaha, Neb./Harry A. Burke) swam in the 1650 yard freestyle finals and placed in the top 18 with a season best time. First year

Grace Turner (Northborough, Mass./Worcester Academy), and sophomore
Kinsey Stewart (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) all raced in the 1650 freestyle finals and swam to a season best time.
First year
Zoe Machmer Frederick (Omaha Neb./Lincoln East) and
Lauren Whyte swam to their fastest times of the year in the 200 yard backstroke. First year
Grace Madigan (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) senior
Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West), first year
Malia Borg (Charleston, S.C./Academic Magnet), senior
Marie Crane (Laouina, Tunisia/American Cooperative School of Tunis), and junior
Lydia Yoder (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Regional) sprinted to their fastest times of the season in the 100 yard freestyle. Foy just missed the cut in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:37.16. Sophomore
Lanae Caldwell (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Polytechnic) also posted a season best time in the 200 yard butterfly.
The Scots finished 7
th out of 11 teams in the MIAC Championships.
Regionals will be February 28-29 in Granville, OH at Denison University.
