RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Macalester College women's track and field team performed well in the second meet of the season at the UW-River Falls Winter Classic on Saturday. Team scores were not recorded.
Senior
Lily Schlieman (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) was victorious in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.11. Senior
Anjali Mani (Austin, Texas/Ann Richards) took fifth in the 400. The other victory on the track for the Scots was turned in by senior
Lydia Simpson (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale). Simpson, who won the mile at last week's SJU/CSB Alumni Meet, placed first in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:00.90. Seniors
Emma Maxtutis (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and
Kayla Hostetler (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) took second (11:08.76) and third (11:10.92), respectively, while seniors
Ingrid Kilde (Wilson, Wis./Menomenie) and
Anya Ptacek (Cold Spring, N.Y./Poughkeepsie Day), and first year
Ruth Claycomb (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) finished fifth through seventh.
In the 800 meters, first year
Madeline Rodriguez (Petaluma, Calif./Marin Academy) placed fifth in 2:33.21, followed closely by sophomore
Gracie Ellsworth (Washington, D.C./Georgetown Visitation Prep) in eighth with a time of 2:33.98. Sophomore
Brennan Drake (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) took fourth in the mile with a time of 5:29.42, while sophomore
Lena Stern (Seattle, Wash./Garfield) was seventh in 5:34.94.
In the field events, first year
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) tied for first in the triple jump with a leap of 33-10.25 (10.32m), which ranks eighth on Macalester's all-time performance list. She also took sixth in the long jump, as the Scots garnered fourth through seventh place. First year
Sara Gregor (Bloomington, Minn./The Blake School) was fourth with a mark of 15-10.25 (4.84), followed by first year
Mikayla Ennever (Wayzata, Minn./Breck School) in fifth, Amundson in sixth and senior
Hannah Detlaff (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) in seventh.
In the pole vault, sophomore
Hannah Grosse (Minneapolis, Minn./Coon Rapids) posted a personal best by clearing 9-6.25 (2.90) to take seventh. The performance ranks third all-time at Macalester. Senior
Caitlyn Burmester (Columbia, Md./Atholton) also set a PR in the shot put while taking third with a toss of 38-0.75 (11.60), which is sixth on Macalester's indoor performance list.
The Scots host the Hamster Invitational on Friday, Feb. 7 in the Leonard Center Fieldhouse.
