ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College head volleyball coach Sarah Graves '04 was a featured speaker at the first virtual convention presented by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The annual event which was presented online due to the pandemic is the largest gathering of volleyball coaches in the world.

Graves presented a two-part session titled: What I Wish I Knew in my First Head Coaching Role. She also moderated a quick tips session with the diversity award winners about building team culture. Graves, who is in her fourth season as head coach at Macalester, is a member of the AVCA Diversity Development Team.

Sessions were presented by industry leaders and coaches from every level of the sport in the United States and well-known international coaches. The virtual format allowed coaches to share training sessions from their gyms and demonstrate skill development and cuing with their own players. Programming also included sessions on career development, recruiting, motivation, and mental health.

The event drew more than 1400 attendees and almost 40 exhibitors.
