MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team wrapped up the 2025 season with a big win on the road, beating Concordia College in five sets, 20-25, 25-23, 25-28, 19-25, 15-8 Saturday night at Memorial Auditorium. The Scots end the season with an overall record of 5-20-, including a 2-9 mark in conference play. The Cobbers finish the year at 7-17, 2-9 MIAC.
After dropping the first set, 25-20 despite six kills from sophomore outside hitter
Adonia Anene (North Hollywood, Calif/The Buckley School), Macalester rebounded in the second set. The Scots held a one-point lead, 19-18 before closing the set with two kills by Anene for a 25-23 win. First year middle blocker
Danielle Oji (Katy, Texas/Obra D. Tompkins) had six kills in the set. Macalester moved closer to victory with a 25-18 win in the third set, with sophomore right side
Hannah Eisenman (Cary, N.C./Green Level) delivering four kills.
Down 2-1, the Cobbers extended the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set. Anene tallied five kills but it was not enough to avoid a fifth set. The Scots were undeterred, turning a close 5-3 lead into a 15-8 victory, with Anene leading the way with four kills.
Anene led all players with 21 kills to go with 20 digs. Oji finished with 11 kills, with Eisenman contributing nine kills. Senior outside hitter
Grace Watkins (San Angelo, Texas/Georgetown) tallied seven kills in her final match as a Scot. Junior setter
Hannah Morrow (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) registered 47 assists to go with five kills and 16 digs. Defensively, sophomore libero
Elizabeth Joo (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian) led the way with 33 digs, while first year
Kailee Banta (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) matched Anene with 20 digs and junior outside hitter
MiLani Terrell (Cypress, Texas/Tomball Memorial) had 13 digs. Junior middle blocker
Alia Sherrow (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor School) added four blocks. Concordia was led by Annie Horan and Mallory Leitner with 14 kills each.
The match was the final contest in the Orange and Blue for seniors Watkins,
Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe West) and
Sarah Bohrer (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina). Macalester will return 13 players for next season.
