Men's Tennis: Macalester Continues to Roll

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DULUTH, Minn.- The Macalester men's tennis team beat the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse and Bethany Lutheran College today to remain undefeated this season.

Macalester won 6-3 over the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. No. 1 singles sophomore Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) won 6-1, 6-1. The Scots continued to roll as first year Jeffrey Jorgensen (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) won 6-4, 7-5 as the No. 2 singles.

First year Karsten Knutsen (Minneapolis, Minn./Riverfield Country Day), sophomore Ben White (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) and senior Peter Willenborg (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) all had to win in three sets to beat their opponents.

Finally, senior Matt Yang (Bethesda, MD./Walt Whitman) won 6-2, 6-3. The Scots were swept by La Crosse in doubles.

Against Bethany Lutheran, the Scots won 7-2. First year George Steinke (Swathmore, Pa./Strath Haven) led the Scots against the Vikings to win 6-4, 6-4. First year Alexander Poland (Madison, Wis./Madison West) also won in straight sets as did first year Alexander Hamann (Lincoln, Neb../Lincoln) and first year Allessandro Mauceri (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz Central).

Poland and sophomore Aidan Toner Rogers (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy) won their match in doubles 8-2.

Macalester returns to play Friday, Mar. 1, against Concordia College (Minn.) in White Bear Lake, Minn.
