ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team hosted Luther College in the first home competition of the 2019-20 season. The Scots came away with a 144-92 victory in the team scoring.
Macalester opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. Seniors
Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) and
Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West), junior
Zoe Schopick (Winchester, Va./James Wood) and sophomore
Betsy Foy (Omaha, Neb./Harry A. Burke) won with a time of 2:00.95.
Thompson placed first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.23. She also won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.12. First year
Frances Redpath (Helena, Mont./Helena) took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.37 and was second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:49.47. First year
Grace Madigan (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.20.
Senior
Francesca Gillis (River Forest, Ill./Trinity) won both diving events, scoring 207.95 points on the 1-meter board and 219.05 on the 3-meter board. First year
Katie Kelbrants (Minneapolis, Minn./South) was second in both diving events.
Macalester competes in a dual meet at St. Norbert on Friday, Oct. 25.
