HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Macalester College men's tennis team beat Saint Berry College today 6-3 on their first day of spring play in South Carolina. The Scots are now 4-2 on the season .

Macalester won four of the six singles matches with Macalester's No. 1 singles Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) defeating  Chase Gooding  in three sets, 6-2, 5-7,10-7. No.2 Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) beat Ryan Miner in straight sets as did No.5 Matthew Yang. No.3 Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) won against Jordan Crance in a three set match, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.

The Scots went two for three in doubles Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) and Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) winning 9(5)-8. Matthew Yang (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) and Ben Wilson (Oakland, Calif./College Preparatory Scool) won 8-5.

Macalester returns to action on Tuesday, March. 13, against Ohio Wesleyan University.
