Owatonna, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team lost to Grinnell College 9-0 today. This is the Scots first loss of the year putting  them at 2-1.

Macalester put up a tough battle despite losing all their single matches on the day.  The Scots top three singles all lost in close three set matches, including Macalester's No. 1 singles Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) who lost  to Sriram Sugumaran 7-6, 4-6, 12-10. No.2 Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) won the first set against Zach Lane but then lost in three sets.  
The Scots doubles loses were also close matches with Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) and Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) losing  8-6 and Ben White (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) and Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) losing 8-4.

Macalester returns to action away on Friday, Mar. 2, against the University of St. Thomas.
