WINONA, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team beat Saint Mary's University today 7-2.  The Scots are now 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the MIAC.

Macalester won five of the six singles matches with Macalester's No. 1 singles Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) defeating Brenden Amiotte 6-4, 6-2. No.2 Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) beat Brett Giesen in a close match 6-4, 6-4.  Additionally, No.5 Peter Willeborg (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) won against Alec Rudh in a three set match, 7-5, 5-7, 10-6.

The Scots went two for three in doubles Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) and Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) winning 8-3. Ben White (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) and Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) won 8-5.

Macalester returns to action away on Saturday, Feb. 24, against the University of St. Thomas.
