WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team defeated Saint Mary's, 6-2 in a MIAC dual Friday evening at Lifetime Fitness. The win gives the Scots a 5-5 record overall, including a 1-1 mark in league play. The Cardinals drop to 7-6, 1-5 MIAC.

Macalester earned one point out of three in doubles, with junior Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) and sophomore Matthew Yang (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) winning at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Doyle and Yang also picked up straight-set victories at first and fifth singles, respectively, as the Scots won five of the six singles matches. Junior Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) and sophomore Peter Willenborg (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) won their matches in straight sets at second and third singles, while senior Hardt Bergmann (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi) beat Bobby Tiedeman in three sets at third singles.

Macalester continues MIAC play with a dual against Concordia College on Saturday, Mar. 25, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn.
