ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-2 loss to St. Thomas in a MIAC dual Saturday afternoon at St. Paul Academy. The Scots, who have qualified for this week's MIAC playoffs, are now 10-8 overall and 5-4 in the conference. The Tommies improve to 11-3, 7-2 MIAC.
Macalester's top doubles team of senior
Brian Utz (Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) and sophomore
Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) earned the Scots' first point with a win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Utz was the only Macalester player to win in singles, with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.
Macalester will play in the MIAC playoffs on Wednesday, May 4. The opponent and location have yet to be determined.
