ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College men's tennis team hosted Bethel in MIAC action at Hayden Courts on Wednesday evening. The Scots came away with a 6-3 win over the Royals after winning two doubles and four singles matches. Macalester advances to 7-6 on the season with a 2-2 mark in conference play. Bethel falls to 15-4 overall, 2-3 in the MIAC.

Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany) kept his winning streak alive, earning two wins on the day. Doyle, who was awarded MIAC Player of the Week on Tuesday, is now 8-0 in conference play. Tonight he defeated Bethel's No. 1 player, Matt Schull 3-6, 6-1, 10-7. Schull was 11-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play heading into today's match. Doyle partnered with Brian Utz (Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.

Matthew Yang (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) was the second Macalester player to achieve two wins against the Royals. Yang defeated Luke Palmquist 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. He partnered with Wilson Merrell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Arlington) to earn an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.

Macalester will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 16 when they host Carleton College. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Hayden Courts.
