ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Macalester College men's tennis team took on a competitive Colorado College team on Tuesday evening in Spring Break play. Macalester displayed strong singles play, defeating the Tigers in the No. 1 through 4 positions (5 and 6 singles were not able to finish their matches). With the win, the Scots move to 5-3 overall this season.
Aside from four wins in singles, Macalester also earned wins in No. 1 and 3 doubles.
Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany / Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) and
Brian Utz (Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) defeated Colorado College's 1 and 2 players, 8-4. The No. 3 doubles team of
Matthew Yang (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) and
Hardt Bergmann (Mahtomedi, Minn. / Mahtomedi) won 8-5.
The Scots will return to action on Thursday, March 17 when they take on the College of Wooster at 9 a.m. (EST) in Orlando.
