Women's Tennis: Macalester slated for pair of MIAC matches this weekend

Scots return from spring trip for indoor conference match ups.

Macalester is scheduled for a pair of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches this weekend.
 
The Scots are slated to host Saint Mary's, Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. The match, originally scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at the Hayden Courts on the Macalester campus, has been moved to the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center.
 
Sunday, Macalester is scheduled to be on the road for a 10 a.m. match versus Saint Benedict at the Fitness Revolution Tennis Center in Sartell, Minn.

LAST WEEK
The Scots went 1-3 in four matches at the Hilton Head (S.C.) Spring Tennis Festival.
 
Macalester opened its spring trip last Monday with a 7-2 win over Farleigh Dickinson-Florham, before dropping a pair of matches, Wednesday, 6-3 to Messiah and 8-1 to St. Norbert. The Scots wrapped up the trip with an 8-1 loss to Allegheny.
 
Lily Stein led Macalester by going 6-2 on the trip, winning three of her four singles matches, all at number four singles, while teaming with Gabby Queenan to win three of doubles matches, at two doubles.
 
HE'S THE BOSS
Jason Muhl is in his 11th year as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Macalester College.

In 2008, Muhl was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis coach of the year after guiding the Scots to their best season in school history, and, in 2010, was picked as MIAC men's tennis coach of the year.

A former standout at St. Cloud State University, where he was team captain, Muhl previously coached at Burnsville High School, the Blake School and Eastview High School.

Muhl holds undergraduate degrees in recreation administration from St. Cloud State University, from where he graduated in 1997, elementary education from Bemidji State University, and a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University. He currently teaches elementary school in the New Prague School District.

Macalester will be idle until April 8, when it travels north on Snelling Avenue for a 4:30 p.m. match at Hamline.
