ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College first year Adel Schneider (Appleton, Wis./St. Mary's Catholic) was named the MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 13, the conference announced today. Schneider helped the Scots open the season with two MIAC victories this weekend by winning all four of her matches.

On Saturday at home against Concordia College, Schneider combined with first year Isabel Gaytan (El Paso, Texas/El Paso) at No. 2 doubles for a 6-1 win over Ava Lowman and Annalise Skrade. In singles, Schneider beat Alyssa Sommerfeld, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to help Macalester edge Concordia, 4-3.

Then on Sunday at Saint Mary's, Schneider and Gaytan won again at No. 2 doubles, 6-1 over Hersha Gangasani and Maddie Jensen. Schneider's 6-3, 6-1 victory over Emily Dondelinger at second singles also contributed to Macalester's narrow 4-3 win.

The Scots host UW-Superior on Saturday, Sept. 19 in a non-conference dual beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Hayden Tennis Courts.
