HILTON HEAD, S.C. --Â Neither side lost fewer than four games in eight of nine matches and, in the end, Allegheny came out on top six times to defeated Macalester, 6-3, at the Evian Tennis Club.
Josh Doyle raised his overall singles record to 7-3 with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 win at two singles. The only Scot to win both of his matches, Doyle team with
Wilson Merrell at two doubles and the duo raised their doubles record to 6-1 on the season with a 9-7 victory.
Macalester's other win came at one singles where
Brian Utz won for the eight times in 10 outings, winning his fourth consecutive match, with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
The match was moved up from Thursday due to predicted rain in the Hilton Head area. It will give the Scots an off day before they wrap up play at the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest with a 9 a.m. EDT match versus Albright back at the Evian TC.
