ON TAPMacalester kicks off the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of its schedule, Friday, when it hosts St. Olaf. The match is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
The Oles feature the eighth-ranked doubles team of Stephen Nolan and Joey Kronzer. The Scots will likely send the doubles team of
Aidan Tirpack and
Brian Utz.
LAST WEEKThe Scots were idle after their scheduled match with Minnesota-Morris was cancelled.
HE'S THE BOSSJason Muhl is in his 11th year as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Macalester College.
In 2008, Muhl was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis coach of the year after guiding the Scots to their best season in school history, and, in 2010, was picked as MIAC men's tennis coach of the year.
A former standout at St. Cloud State University, where he was team captain, Muhl previously coached at Burnsville High School, the Blake School and Eastview High School.
Muhl holds undergraduate degrees in recreation administration from St. Cloud State University, from where he graduated in 1997, elementary education from Bemidji State University, and a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University. He currently teaches elementary school in the New Prague School District.
Up NextMacalester is idle until March 16 when the Scots head to Hilton Head, S.C. for four days of matches during spring break. Macalester will face Greenville College, March 16, Messiah College, March 17, Farleigh Dickinson University, March 19, at Allegheny College, March 20.
