ON TAPMacalester has a pair of matches on the slate this weekend, including their Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener.

Saturday, the Scots while host Bethany Lutheran at 1 p.m. at the Leonard Center Fieldhouse before playing host to conference foe St. Catherine, Sunday, at the Baseline Tennis Center beginning at 2 p.m.
LAST WEEKMacalester is coming off of a pair of 9-0 home wins to open the 2015 schedule, having downed Martin Luther and North Central, Friday and Saturday.

The Scots lost just four games in doubles play and won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to their win over Martin Luther.

Lily Stein, at number four singles, did not lose a game during a 6-0, 6-0 win. Prior to that victory, she team with
Gabi Rivera at number three doubles for an 8-2 win. Rivera won her number six singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Katelyn Glenna teamed with
Maegan O'Herin at number one doubles to post an 8-1 win before a 6-3, 6-3 victory at number one singles. O'Herin proceeded to win her number five singles match, 6-2, 6-0.

Gabby Queenan was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at number two singles and paired with
Riley Menagh for an 8-1 win at number two doubles. Menagh won her three singles match, 6-0, 6-2.

Saturday, Menagh did not lose a game in single or doubles competition as Macalester lost just eight games in nine matches in its win over North Central.

Menagh teamed with Queenan for an 8-0 win at number two doubles before taking a 6-0, 6-0 win at three singles. Queenan, at two singles, was a 6-2, 6-1 winner.

O'Herin, at five singles, was also a 6-0, 6-0 winner after teaming up with
Katelyn Glenna for an 8-1 win at one doubles. Glenna then went onto a 6-0, 6-1 win at one singles.

The number three doubles team of
Lily Stein and Gabi River won their match, 8-1. Stein then won, 6-1, 6-0, at four singles while Rivera was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at six singles.

HE'S THE BOSSJason Muhl is in his 11th year as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Macalester College.
In 2008, Muhl was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis coach of the year after guiding the Scots to their best season in school history, and, in 2010, was picked as MIAC men's tennis coach of the year.
A former standout at St. Cloud State University, where he was team captain, Muhl previously coached at Burnsville High School, the Blake School and Eastview High School.
Muhl holds undergraduate degrees in recreation administration from St. Cloud State University, from where he graduated in 1997, elementary education from Bemidji State University, and a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University.  He currently teaches elementary school in the New Prague School District.
