ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College seniors Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were both selected to the All-MIAC singles team, as the conference announced its year-end awards today. Haugen and Trevathan, who make up the Scots' No. 1 doubles team, also received All-MIAC honorable mention for doubles, while Trevathan was included on the All-Playoff Team.
Haugen repeats on the All-MIAC singles team after earning the honor last season. She also received All-MIAC honorable mention as a first year and sophomore. This year, Haugen was 13-5 overall and 7-3 against conference opponents at No. 1 singles, including wins over fellow All-MIAC honorees Faith Simon of St. Catherine, Alexandra Berns of St. Olaf and Sophia Cosgrove of St. Scholastica. For her career at Macalester, Haugen was 47-21 in singles.
Trevathan returns to the All-MIAC singles team after earning all-conference honors as a sophomore. This season, she posted a singles record of 14-4 and was 6-3 in MIAC duals. She defeated All-MIAC player Liliana Holberg of St. Catherine twice in straight sets, including a 6-3, 6-0 win in the quarterfinals of the MIAC Playoffs. Her four-year singles record at Macalester is 47-23.
In doubles, Haugen and Trevathan were 10-7 overall and 4-5 in the MIAC this season. The two seniors have played doubles together for the majority of their four years as Scots, registering a record of 31-26. As first years, Haugen and Trevathan were 10-5 and received honorable mention All-MIAC in doubles.
Bethel's Lauren Douglas was named the MIAC Singles Player of the Year and the Chris Evert Award recipient, while Douglas and Michaella Sullivan were chosen the MIAC Doubles Team of the Year. Concordia's Tanis Lee was selected the MIAC Rookie of the Year, with St. Catherine's Ben Hageseth receiving the MIAC Coach of the Year award.
