ON TAPMacalester will take part in a doubleheader Sunday at the Fitness Revolution Tennis Center in Sartell, Minn. The Scots are slated to take on Wisconsin-Eau Claire, ranked 18th in the Central Region, at 12 p.m. before facing host St. Cloud State, ranked 10th in the Central Region among NCAA Division II schools, at 4 p.m.
LAST WEEKThe Scots are coming off of a pair of 9-0 home wins to open the 2015 schedule, having downed Martin Luther and North Central, Friday and Saturday.

Wilson Merrell was the only Macalester player to compete in both doubles and singles in the win over Martin Luther. He combined with
Josh Doyle for an 8-3 win at number two doubles before posting a 7-5, 6-2 win at number one singles.

The Scots' top doubles team of
Brian Utz and
Aidan Tirpack cruised to an 8-0 win at number one doubles and the number three doubles team of
Sam Naden and
Carl Bergmann also came up with an 8-0 win.

Ben Wilson made a clean sweep, with a 6-0, 6-0 win, at number three singles while
Perry Campbell, a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number two singles,
Travis Beach, a 6-0, 6-1 win at four singles, and
Clay Creger, a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles, all lost just one game on the night.

Paul Yeo stumbled but won his first set at number five singles before cruising to a second-set win, posting a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Saturday, Macalester won three singles matches without giving up a game and Utz won in both singles and doubles play to lead the Scots to victory over North Central.

Utz won his number one singles match, 6-0, 6-0, after teaming with Bergmann for an 8-1 win at one doubles.

Doyle, at two singles, and Campbell, at six singles, also won 6-0, 6-0 matches while Naden, at five singles, was a 6-0, 6-1 winner.

In the middle of the Macalester lineup, Tirpack was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at three singles while Merrell won at four singles, 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles play, Beach and Wilson were also 8-1 winners, at two doubles, while the three doubles tandem of Yeo and Creger won 8-2.

HE'S THE BOSSJason Muhl is in his 11th year as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Macalester College.
In 2008, Muhl was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis coach of the year after guiding the Scots to their best season in school history, and, in 2010, was picked as MIAC men's tennis coach of the year.
A former standout at St. Cloud State University, where he was team captain, Muhl previously coached at Burnsville High School, the Blake School and Eastview High School.
Muhl holds undergraduate degrees in recreation administration from St. Cloud State University, from where he graduated in 1997, elementary education from Bemidji State University, and a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University. He currently teaches elementary school in the New Prague School District.
