Macalester vs. Bethel box score
 
Macalester played Bethel in a big MIAC men's tennis match late Wednesday night at Lifetime Fitness Club in Lakeville and battled its way to a 6-3 victory over the Royals.  The Scots boost their hopes of making the conference players and improve to 3-3 in MIAC play and 7-6 overall.
 
The Scots picked up wins in singles competition from Brian Utz (So., Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) at No. 1; Alasdair McClintic (Fy., Geneva, Switzerland / Phillips Academy (Mass.)) at No. 2; Wilson Merrill (So., Poughkipsie, N.Y. / Arlington) at No. 4; and Sam Naden (Jr., Middleton, Wis.) at No. 6.
 
Utz and McClintic won at first doubles (8-5), while Max Soghikian (Sr., Piedmont, Calif.) and Merrell won at second doubles (9-8).
 
The Scots are back in action Tuesday (April 22) at St. Olaf.
