Men’s Tennis: MIAC power Gustavus sweeps Scots

Box score
MIAC powerhouse Gustavus Adolphus took another step towards its 26th straight regular-season league title, swept Macalester in dominate fashion to gain a 9-0 win Saturday night in St. Peter.  The Gusties, who have not allowed a point all season to an MIAC opponent, advance to 13-1 on the season and 5-0 in the conference.

Macalester's best chance of taking a point from Gustavus, came at No. 1 singles, where Brian Utz (So., Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) fell 3-6, 4-6.  Utz and Alasdair McClintic (Fy., Geneva, Switzerland / Phillips Academy (Mass.)) lost a competitive 4-8 contest at first doubles.

The Scots play four matches over Spring Break March 16-20 in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where they take on Allegheny (Pa.), St. Norbert (Wis.), St. Mary's (Minn.) and Frostburg State (Md.).  Conference play resumes March 29 with a match at Concordia-Moorhead.
