Macalester vs. Cardinal Stritch box score

Macalester hosted a non-conference match with Cardinal Stritch Saturday at the Leonard Center.  The Scots won all three doubles matches and clinched the victory with wins in two singles events to claim their first win of the winter/spring campaign.

Brian Utz (Fy., Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) and Alasdair McClintic (Fy., Geneva, Switzerland / Phillips Academy (Mass.)) got things off to a good start by collecting an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles. Max Soghikian (Sr., Piedmont, Calif.)and Wilson Merrell (So., Poughkipsie, N.Y. / Arlington) won 8-6 at second doubles, and winning 8-6 at No. 3 were Sam Naden (Jr., Middleton, Wis.) and Paul Rebman (Sr., Wheaton, Ill. / North).

McClintic claimed a 6-2, 7-5 decision at No. 2 singles, while Soghikian won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Next Sunday (Feb. 16), Macalester takes on St. Thomas at the University of Minnesota Baseline Club at 2:30 p.m. in the MIAC opener.
