ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Cydni McMillian and
Jessica Yost both took 1-up leads on the 17th hole and halved the 18th to come from behind in the final singles matches of the day and give Macalester a 3-2 win over St. Catherine in the Scots' fall finale at Highland National Golf Course.
The Wildcats went up in the first group as Whitney Nash took a 5-and-4 win over
Kyla Martin. Nash led, 1-up, through seven holes but won five of the next six and, after halving the 14th hole, sealed the victory.
Jessica Stone evened the match at 1-1 against Ellen Rager. The duo only halved one of the 17 holes they plaed but Stone, trailing 2-down through 12 holes, won four of the final five holes to claim a 2-and-1 win.
Madi Roe had to win the final two holes of her match with
Suzanne Dufault to give St. Catherine the lead once again. Roe won the 16th and 17th holes to put the finishing touches on a 3-and-1 win.
The Scots won with dramatic comebacks from both McMillian and Yost.
McMillian, 2-down through 13 holes, won the 14th, 15th and 17th holes and halved the 16th and 18th holes, shooting a one-over par, 37, on the back nine to claim the 1-up win over Abby Conzemius.
Yost found herself 3-down after 10 holes but squared the match by winning the next three holes. After halving the next three holes with Kaitlyn Alvarez, Yost won the 17th hole to take her first lead of the day and halved the 18th to take the victory and give the Scots the win.
