EDINA, Minn. – The Macalester College women's golf team tied for second place at the MIAC Golf Championships, held this weekend at Braemar Golf Course. The Scots posted a three-round score of 920 (+56), the program's second-lowest score in a 54-hole tournament, to tie with Gustavus and finish behind champion St. Catherine (+18 882). Macalester's performance tied last year's team for the program's best finish at the MIAC Championships.
The Scots opened on Friday with a first-round score of 302, which is tied for the fifth-lowest one-round score in the program's history. Saturday's second round saw Macalester shoot a 307, closing with a score of 311 on Sunday.
Sophomore
Yangyang Gu (Nantong, Jiansu, China/Shanghai Experimental School) led the Scots with a fourth-place finish after carding scores of 74 73 73 - 220 (+4), which ranks second all-time at Macalester for 54 holes. This is the second straight top-10 finish at the MIAC Championships for Gu, who tied for ninth last year.
Next for the Scots was junior
Ava Austria (Portland, Ore./Catlin Gabel), who finished 10th with a score of 229 (+13). Austria was 10th in 2024 and fourth in 2025, giving her three top-10 finishes. First year
Marley Zhang (Hebei, China/Shanghai Hongqiao International School) tied for 13th after posting a 232 (+16). First year
Eunice Lee (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) tied for 24th (239 +23) to round out Macalester's top four players. Junior
Mia Cluff (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) also competed and tied for 33rd (247 +31).
