Macalester vs. St. Mary's box score
Macalester started off the match with victories at first and second doubles, and went on to beat St. Mary's 5-4 at Hayden Tennis Courts on Saturday. The Scots boost their record to 7-5 on the season and 2-3 in the MIAC.
Michael Coleman (Sr., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) and
Paul Mairet (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Century) won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, and the team of
Lewis Wilcox (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) and
Max Edwards (So., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) also took an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles. Coleman and Mairet are 8-3 at first doubles, while Edwards and Wilcox are 8-4.
The Scots split their six singles matches to hold off the Cardinals, who drop to 5-10 overall and 0-8 in the MIAC.
Coleman won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles; Edwards won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2; and
Justin Margolies (Sr., Madison, Wis. / West) won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6. Coleman's record at No. 1 singles is a team-best 8-4.
Macalester's match tomorrow with Sioux Falls (S.D.) has been postponed because of the weather forecast. The Scots return to competition next Friday (April 15) at home against Concordia-Moorhead at 6 p.m.
