Macalester vs. Bethel box score

In a match which began a week ago and suspended because of rain, Macalester and Bethel finished their MIAC battle Tuesday in Arden Hills, and it was the BU Royals pulling out a narrow 5-4 decision over the Scots. The heart-breaking setback drops the Scots to 7-7 on the season and 2-5 in the MIAC.

Gaining wins in singles play for Macalester were Michael Coleman (Sr., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) at No. 1 and Chris Fowler (Jr., Toronto, Ont. / Royal St. George's) at No. 2. Coleman won a 6-4, 33-6, 10-7 battle and Fowler came out on top 6-3, 6-2. Bethel, however, won at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles to pull out the victory.

Mac claimed two of the three doubles matches. Coleman and Paul Mairet (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Century) won 8-4 at first doubles, while Fowler and Max Soghikian (Fy., Piedmont, Calif. ) won by the same tally at third doubles.

The Scots host Gustavus Saturday (April 30) at 10 a.m. at Hayden Courts.
