Macalester vs. St. John's box score
Macalester fought to three-set decisions at first and second doubles and went on to topple St. John's 5-4 at Gold's Gym in Sartell. The Scots collect their first conference win of the season, improving to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC.
The closest Mac wins came at the top of the singles lineup.
Michael Coleman (Sr., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) improved to 7-3 on the campaign with a 6-0, 5-7, 10-5 victory at No. 1. At second singles,
Chris Fowler (Jr., Toronto, Ont. / Royal St. George's) won 1-6, 7-5, 10-8 to boost his record to 7-2.
Macalester's other win in singles play came from
Max Soghikian (Fy., Piedmont, Calif.) at No. 6 with a 7-5, 6-3 win.
Coleman and
Paul Mairet (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Century) won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, while
Max Edwards (So., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) and
Lewis Wilcox (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. The Scots are 20-10 this year in doubles play.
The Scots are back in action next Thursday (March 31) against St. Thomas at Lifetime Fitness Club in Lakeville at 6 p.m.
