Macalester vs. Northwestern box score

With most of the key players back from last spring's 13-8 season, Macalester is looking for another big year during the 2011 campaign, which got underway with a 9-0 sweep over Northwestern-Roseville Saturday afternoon at the Leonard Center.

Two of the three doubles matches were tightly contested. Michael Coleman (Sr., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) and Paul Mairet (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Century) claimed a 9-8 victory with a 7-3 tiebreaker win. Coleman and Mairet went 10-7 a year ago at first doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Max Edwards (So., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) and Lewis Wilcox (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) won 8-6.

All six Mac singles wins came in straight sets.

The Scots return to the court next Saturday (Feb. 19) against Martin Luther at 2 p.m. at the Leonard Center.
