Following a 12-7 regular-season, Macalester heads to St. Peter this weekend for the MIAC men's tennis playoffs at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Mac is making its first post-season appearance since the conference went to a six-team playoff format in 2007 and the Scots come in as the No. 6 seed. The Scots tied St. Olaf for fifth place with 4-5 regular-season conference marks, but the Oles drew the higher seed because they edged Macalester 5-4 a couple weeks ago.
No. 6 Macalester will play a quarter-final match against No. 3 St. Thomas Friday (May 7) at 3:30 p.m. The Tommies went 7-2 in the MIAC regular season, losing only to regionally-ranked powers Gustavus and Carleton. UST beat the Scots 6-3 in mid-April. The winner of Friday's match plays a Saturday morning semi-final contest against Gustavus or Carleton.
Friday's other quarter-final match features Bethel and St. Olaf.
SCHEDULE NOTE - Rain has forced Friday's matches indoors. The Mac vs. UST match moves up to 3 p.m. and will be played at the Swanson Tennis Center.
