Macalester vs. Carleton box score
Regionally-ranked Carleton clinched the No. 2 seed in next weekend's MIAC playoffs by defeating Macalester 8-1 at Hayden Courts Wednesday night. Despite the final score, the Scots played a very strong match.
Carleton bumps its record to 16-3 overall and 7-1 in MIAC matches. Macalester, with one regular-season match remaining before the
conference tourney, is 12-6 on the season, 4-4 in the MIAC. The Scots will be seeded fourth, fifth or sixth in the six-team playoffs. No. 1 Gustavus and No. 2 Carleton will receive first rounds byes, and the other qualifiers are St. Thomas, Bethel, Mac and St. Olaf.
Mac's lone win against the Knights came at No. 4 singles, where
Evan Elderbrock (So., Madison, Wis. / West), improved to a team-best 12-4 on the season.
The Scots take on Concordia Saturday in Moorhead with a chance to post their first winning MIAC record since 2001.
